Transformational Change

When You Know What You Want, But Not How To Get There

 

Leaders acknowledge the need for change and set ambitions for growth, increased profitability, and improved service offerings for their companies. However, knowing where you want to be in the future isn’t enough to achieve those ambitions. Challenges arise in being able to accurately define where your organisation is changing from today, and in building detailed and actionable transformation plans from that place, to reach and achieve your ambitions for the future.

For the last thirty years I have led many transformational change projects in large corporations as well as small privately owned companies, specialising in advertising, entertainment, and media within the creative industries. I take time to understand the inner workings of organisations, assess management’s understanding of their business, and review their commercial and creative performance. This allows me to build a picture of the organisation’s internal capabilities, capacity, and competencies and their competitive position in the marketplace.

Following this, I work collaboratively with leadership to develop detailed transformational strategies. These include short- and long-term actionable plans, investment proposals, staff training, new operating models and more, depending on the project. Additionally, I support leadership to obtain stakeholder and board approval for strategies by preparing and delivering the business case.

Once the transformational change strategies have been approved, steering committees are established and clients either lead these themselves or I can lead them to provide continuity and ensure successful execution of the transformation. Examples of recent transformation programmes include: new product innovations for an advertising agency, improved profitability for a production company, and diversification and growth of portfolio for an industry body.
